Plot Overview[]

S1E12 Sitting at Table

Tohru asks what Kobayashi would like for dinner. Kobayashi has no preference so she asks Tohru what she'd like and replies omurice. Later Tohru sees off Kanna and Kobayashi; now alone in the apartment, Tohru dusts the place clean and then tends to the laundry. As she hangs the laundry up, Tohru accepts a package from the delivery man, the contents to the package is a cushion to help with her lower back pain. Once all of that is finished, Tohru makes a trial batch omurice, but while it appears to be impressive, its taste is average. Lucoa visits with some snacks and they enjoy some of them with some tea. Right before Lucoa leaves, she advises Tohru to use good ingredients.

Afterward, Tohru goes to the shopping district where she tries to pick up some ingredients, but once she calculates the expenses she realize she's over budget. Just then, Tatsuta appears and Tohru tries to strike a deal with him for a cheaper price on his meat, but fails. Hence, Tohru goes to the alternate world where she's from and gets some ingredients there for her omurice. When Kanna gets home from school, Tohru goes over all of the ingredients she got and exactly where she got them. From there with the supervision of Kanna, Tohru starts to prepare the omurice.

S1E12 Pulling on Sword

Later that night, Kobayashi takes the subway train home and thinks about the omurice that Tohru plans to make her for dinner. Kobayashi then dozes off and dreams of the night where she first meet Tohru for the first time when she got too drunk and missed her stop while heading home from work. Drunkenly prancing around the mountain area with a bottle of Dragon Slayer sake in hand, Kobayashi bumps into a wounded Tohru with a sword jammed into her back. Although Tohru belittles and berates Kobayashi as an inferior human, Kobayashi climbs on her back and yanks the sword stabbed into it. Kobayashi then enjoys more of her drink while going on a bit of a drunken tirade whereas Tohru is now servile and not mean and aggressive as she was before. As Tohru explains her reason for doing so, Kobayashi demands that Tohru enjoy a drink with her and Tohru acquiesces by using her magic to transform into a human form. The two then enjoy a drink and after several hours pass, they both are completely drunk and go on diatribes of how unfair life is, until the sake bottle is empty. Kobayashi then asks if Tohru has any place to go home to, which Tohru claims there isn't. So, Kobayashi invites Tohru to live with her and she tearfully accepts. Excited that Tohru accepted her offer, Kobayashi claims that she wants her to be her maid and goes on a tirade about what maids are all about. She stops mid-way to introduce herself as does Tohru. Waking up from her nap, Kobayashi gets off on her stop and returns home where she's greeted by Tohru and Kanna who inform her that they've completed the Omurice for her. The omurice was really big, but good, however, it still had its flaws that Kobayashi had to point out.

S1E12 Tohru Bandit Girl 4

Tohru puts away the leftover rice in the fridge and joins Kobayashi and Kanna by the kotatsu as they watch the tv. Kobayashi soon asks if Tohru had any human friends back in her old world, to which, she tells a story about a little girl she met at a ruined village. Once Tohru lands in the ruined village, the human there that turns out to have been a Bandit Girl, asks to lay-low with her for a while. The Bandit Girl then details her backstory of how she mistakenly attacked a Noble caravan figuring it was a merchant one. Even though, Tohru threatens the Bandit Girl to live, she refuses citing her threats were empty. Hence Tohru stomps her foot on the Bandit Girl, however, the girl survives because her foot missed her. Agitated, Tohru allows her to stay in the place and the Bandit Girl tries to strike a conversation with her about freedom. The question makes Tohru question her actions and motives as being a part of the Chaos and asks what the Bandit Girl would do if she were free. The Bandit Girl answers that she'd be a maid and recites the perks of the job. Although Tohru argues that's enslavement, the Bandit Girl claims that it would be her choice. Tohru then listens to more of what the Bandit Girl has to say and when the Bandit Girl feels the coast is clear she says she'll cross the mountains to the next nation and start a new life there a as a maid. Also, her to be able to ride on Tohru's back is flatly denied. Back to the present, Tohru finishes her story and in the nation that the Bandit Girl headed to, it's revealed that she managed to become a maid.
